I love the discovery of small businesses with similar foundations. Much like Coton Colors, Kayce Hughes got her start simply {her garage at home was an integral part of her business, just like our story}. A former designer for Ralph Lauren, Kayce left the corporate world when her first son was born. Four years and four more children later {she has seven now!}, Kayce started designing nightshirts from vintage fabrics for her own kids. Marketing them under the label Pears and Bears, Kayce took her tot-sized garments around to a handful of stores, all of which quickly snatched them up. And much like for Coton Colors, the rest is history.

What began as a simple nightshirt has now expanded to a 200-piece collection including children’s apparel, gift and layette collection, a flower girl line and an ever-expanding women’s line of clothing and accessories. Kayce has an impeccable eye for artistry and design. Each season, she creates classic women’s and children’s designs with a signature vintage touch. The team here at the Coton Colors design center can often be spotted sporting Kayce Hughes and those with younger kids love her Pears and Bears children’s collection.

With the sunny days of summer nearing and the backyard beckoning for barbecues, we can’t help but covet the precious gingham pieces in her current collection. Don’t you think this is the perfect dress for summer barbecues?
